Leighton M. Hara

Leighton M. Hara has represented a wide array of clients, ranging from small companies to large health care organizations. He has defended companies from charges of discrimination before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Hawaii Civil Rights Commission. Mr. Hara has also defended actions brought by former employees in proceedings before the United States District Court for the District of Hawaii and the State of Hawaii Circuit Courts.

Prior to joining the firm in 2009, Mr. Hara practiced commercial litigation where he defended numerous corporations, governmental entities, and individuals in civil actions. His practice areas have also included employment and construction law. Mr. Hara also served as a law clerk at the Circuit Court of the Third Circuit, State of Hawaii, to the Honorable Riki May Amano and the Honorable Terence T. Yoshioka.

Mr. Hara is a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Hawaii State Bar Association, Young Lawyers Division. He is admitted to practice before all of the state and federal courts of the State of Hawaii, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

In 2009, Mr. Hara was appointed to serve a three-year term as a lawyer delegate to Hawaii’s annual United States District Court Conference. Mr. Hara is an active member of the Honolulu Japanese Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii.
